To implement the national fitness strategy, the 2026 “Xinjiang is a Good Place” · “Pomegranate Seed Cup” Mass Three Major Ball Games League and Gongliu County “Xinyunda” Cup 11-a-side football selection tournament officially began on May 10 at Shazhou School in Gongliu County. The event brought together 12 teams from local townships and government units, competing on the lush green field to foster unity and showcase athletic spirit while strengthening the sense of community for the Chinese nation.
Deputy County Mayor Yin Fei attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech before kicking off the first match. Athletes’ and referees’ representatives took oaths, pledging to adhere to rules and uphold fair play. On the field, players displayed high energy and determination with crisp passes, tackles, and shots—each attack and defense shift captivating the audience. The teams, dressed in coordinated uniforms, demonstrated teamwork and mutual encouragement, embodying the Olympic spirit of faster, higher, stronger, and together. The event highlighted the vibrant, positive attitude of Gongliu’s residents and deepened the concept of ethnic unity through sports.
Athlete Adilijiang Sidike said, “Our team has great chemistry and helps each other like family. I hope to exchange skills with more football friends.” Another player, Mahe, representing the Tasitobbie Township team, added, “We trained hard before the competition and are excited to show our best. Thanks to the organizers for enriching our spare time with such events.”
Local spectators gathered around the field, cheering passionately. Ayida Pazilijiang, a spectator, remarked, “I love football—the players gave it their all, and it was thrilling. I hope more sports events like this come to enrich our community life.”
