Saturday afternoon’s matchup between the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park was postponed due to persistent heavy rain in the Boston area.
The decision to delay the game was announced roughly 15 minutes before the originally scheduled first pitch.

The game will be made up on July 17 as part of a split doubleheader, starting at 1:35 p.m. ET. This will be the first game for both clubs after the All-Star break. The originally scheduled contest for July 17 remains set for 7:10 p.m. ET.
The Rays have pushed back their scheduled Saturday starter, right-hander Nick Martinez (3-1, 1.71 ERA), to Sunday for the series finale. The Red Sox may also shift left-hander Payton Tolle (1-1, 2.04) to Sunday.
Boston and Tampa Bay have split the first two games of what is now a three-game series.
