João Mário delivered a dramatic 90+3-minute strike to clinch the Greek league title for AEK Athens, ending a three-year championship drought. The goal carried extra weight as it came in the Athens derby against Panathinaikos, which AEK won 2-1 with a comeback in the closing stages.

Filipe Relvas started for AEK, but the visitors fell behind in the 62nd minute when Tetteh scored for Panathinaikos, who were without the injured Renato Sanches. Substitute Zini equalized in the 72nd minute before João Mário, introduced by the AEK coach in the 86th minute, completed the turnaround in stoppage time.

With two matchdays still to play, AEK leads the table with 70 points, eight ahead of second-placed PAOK and Olympiakos, who drew 1-1 on Sunday. Those two sides are battling for the remaining Champions League qualifying spot.

This victory marks AEK’s 14th Greek league title, taking over from Olympiakos as the competition’s reigning champion.
