The Giants jumped on Yamamoto early, with back-to-back homers in the second inning and another solo shot in the fifth. Ohtani’s opposite-field homer in the seventh cut the deficit to 6-2, but the Dodgers could not mount a comeback.
The loss drops the Dodgers to 28-15, while the Giants improved to 21-21. Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a walk, and his home run was his first since April 28, a span of 12 games. Yamamoto’s ERA rose to 3.50 after allowing six earned runs on eight hits.
