Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has categorically denied recent rumors about his health, insisting he is not suffering from a terminal illness and has no plans to step down.
“I haven’t been to a doctor. Let any oncologist in Madrid or anywhere else in the world who supposedly treated me say it,” Perez said in a statement. “Friends called me, thinking I was terminally ill. I’m going to finish off all the bad guys. I’m not going to stop, don’t doubt that.”
Addressing speculation about his mobility, he added: “A friend of mine said he knows a place in China that is best suited for treating terminal illnesses. I replied to him: ‘Listen, go to hell…'”
Perez, 78, also confirmed his recent business growth: “I have reached a certain age, I have a company. Last year we grew by 65%.”
The 78-year-old dismissed claims of incurable cancer, stating: “My health is in perfect order. I remain president of Real Madrid and my company. People are using the situation at the club to attack me personally.”
